Keith 0 v Buckie Thistle 3

KEITH’S UNBEATEN RUN ENDS AGAINST JAGS

It was great whilst it lasted, but Keith’s marvellous 10 game unbeaten run came to a shuddering end on Monday when title hopefuls Buckie Thistle won comfortably. Make no mistake, Buckie are a top side, but if truth be known, the Maroons didn’t quite continue their recent fine form.

Goalie Craig Reid, was perhaps the exception, and he pulled off a brilliant stop in the 18th minute to deny Max Barry with Dale Wood’s follow up being cleared. The homesters were battling against a Jags side that looked up for the game, though there was a tinge of luck attached to the opening goal in the 31st minute. Scott Adams’ 16 yarder took a deflection off Lewis Coull, and the ball flew into the roof of the net.

Three minutes into the second half jubilant Jags extended their lead when a Jack Murray cross was powerfully headed home by Sam Morrison from 8 yards. The visitors were well in the ascendancy and on the hour mark Marcus Goodall was unlucky to see his curling drive crash back off the post.

Although the game was really over by this time, the third goal had a stroke of luck about it with 11 minutes remaining when Joe McCabe whipped over a deep cross from out on the right wing, and the ball flew in to the top corner beyond the helpless Reid.

KEITH – Reid, Addison, Lynch, Coull, Robertson, Gill, Elphinstone, Killoh (Ironside), Cooper (Tough), Taylor (Duncan), McKeown (Yeats). Sub unused – Macleod.
